Mike Ellis (mikeellis3@yahoo.com),
author of SLANGUAGE & Fun Spanish. His light-hearted SLANGUAGE
book has been seen and read all over the world. Now everyone

Mike
Ellis is also the founder and creator of Fun
Spanish. He also calls it FUNetics, FUNtronix or Linguistics
Engineering. Are they the end of language barriers? The author
thinks so. And he doesn't care that people think he's crazy.
His goal is to make foreign languages easy and fun just like
Apple Computer forever changed computers by making them fun
and easy to learn.
His concept is very simple. He's erasing Spanish as we know
it and replacing it with his fun version. If you visualize an
ice cream cone, a goose and a toe, then you can say Cone GOOSE
Toe (emphasize the GOOSE) which is Fun Spanish for "with
pleasure." (con gusto)
Fun Spanish teaches you how to say phrases very well.
This is because there is little to no room for error in the
pronunciation because you're reading only English words, pictures
and numbers. Other methods teach you how to pronounce phrases
with poor pronunciation and poor intonation.
Try to ignore other people who will tell you that learning
foreign languages is difficult. One look at the Fun Spanish
samples or any of the FUN Languages should quiet any negative
people. Try Fun
Spanish.
The author enjoys talking about his educational pet rock at
schools. "It's great to talk to young people and watch them
laugh and learn at the same time. When I was in school, I'm
now 42, I learned and laughed, but rarely both at the same time.
To have 300 kids screaming Fun Spanish or Japanese or Chinese
at you and laughing hysterically is cool!"
The author's future vision of the educational pet rock? "I see
young people working in the future who will need many skills
to be employable: computer, internet, language skills. Making
foreign languages easier to learn will free up your time to
learn new skills and make you still more employable. One of
my favorite things about the educational pet rock is how easily
foreign people are impressed with my knowledge of their language.
Even simple phrases. Something as simple as "Doe Moe (Fun Japanese
for hi)" or "Ho Ho Ho (Fun Cantonese Chinese for fine, fine,
fine)" really impresses them. It makes them laugh and feel more
comfortable with me. I think everyone should know Fun Spanish."
The author is also working on a FUNtronix game board and a computer
game, a puzzle and flash cards. A few thousand languages and
dialects should keep him busy...
